LIRNEasia representatives Rohan Samarajiva and Divakar Goswami are playing key roles at the International Telecommunication Union’s Telecom World 2006. This prestigious event, held once in four years, is normally held in Geneva. It was moved to Hong Kong to recognize the leading role of the Asia Pacific in the ICT sector today.
Professor Samarajiva is the Executive Director of LIRNEasia, a WDR regional partner concerned with information and communication technology (ICT) policy and regulation research and capacity building organization based in Colombo. He will chair a session on universal access includes keynotes by the Indian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, and the Vice President of China Unicom, Dr Zhengmao Li. Mr Goswami, an Indian national and Director of Organizational Development and Projects at LIRNEasia, will chair a session that includes keynote presentations by Dr Sofyan Djalil, the Indonesian Minister of ICTs and Major General (retd.) Shazada Alam Malik, Chairman of the Pakistan Telecom Authority. LINKS |
