This website is part of the National Program of Infocenters of the Chilean Government. It lists all the actions currently developed by the public sector together with the private sector, to supply connectivity communitarians solutions for people or companies that are not able to have them by their selves. URL: http://infocentros.subtel.cl/coni/red/inf_index.htm Evaluation: It is a useful resource that offers a place to articulate projects on access, appropriation and social use of the ICTs, and initiatives of Electronic Government. It offers the possibility to exchange information and learning, to monitor experiences, to optimize resources, to generate alliances, and to study sustainability contents and management, among others. The section Documents is of particular interest. In this section, the user can get chronologic information on reports and investigations related to connectivity and the impact of the ICTs where private and individual solutions are negative. Additional information: The Program began in 2001, from a mandate of the Government Committee of New Technologies for Information and Communication. Its goal is to optimize resources to create Infocentros. To do so, the Program carries out initiatives to share, to research, to develop and to advertise different options of management with the community, to assure sustainability and good results of these Infocentros. According to the site, “through this initiative, it is intended to improve the access of low income people to new information and communication technologies , using communitarian access solutions”. |
